Two Needles Right Angle Weave tutorial (Bead matting)

Right angle weave, also called bead matting using two needles was the first beadweaving technique that I learnt. This technique is so so easy and fun to learn and use, even my kids  make some jewelry with this technique.

Here is an illustration. I hope it is clear enough. Happy beading!

Materials needed

1. some beads. Could be any size, shape or color. And you can mix them up!
2. Beading thread like monofilament, fireline, c-lon and so on
3. two beading needles especially if you are using a soft thread like c-lon

STEPS

1. Cut a convenient length of your beading thread.  Then, thread your needles on both ends of the cut out thread.

2. Pick up one bead and slide it down to the middle of the threadNow pick one bead up  with each end of the threads and cross the thread ends through the fourth bead.

3.  Pull both ends tight at the same time until it is like this:

And that is one unit completed!
4. To start the second unit, pick up one bead each with each end of the thread and slide them down. Cross the threads through the third bead like this:

Pull tight until you have this:

Continue like this untill you reach your desired lenght.

And you just simply add you jumprings and clasps if you want to make a simply one.

OR
You can proceed to add more layers.

5.  pick up two beads with one end of the thread  and cross your threads through the third bead.( unlike the first layer where we picked one bead with each thread end)

Pull tight until it is like this:

Notice the threads are now coming out from the side bead

6. Pick up another  two  beads with  same side as for before and again cross through a third bead.

7. Now pass one thread through the adjacent bead such that the two threads are coming out of two different beads like this:

8. Pick one bead with one end of the thread and cross the threads through the second bead closer to the first layer. And pull tight.

And that is how you go on adding layers until you are satisfied. This beadweaving technique is also used for making beaded bags, belt and so on.
So have fun. Be creative. And

HAPPY BEADING
