Beaded Spiral (necklace or bracelet)

The beaded spiral necklace or bracelet is a very easy stitch and a beginner can easily learn how to do this stitch. It is also highly versatile. You can use different types of beads to achieve different looks. It can also be embellished with whatever you feel like.
The fishbone spiral is also made using this basic beaded spiral rope technique, except including a crystal rondelle bead.

It is better to use two colours of beads to make its learning even easier just like I have done in this tutorial. Here is a tutorial on the basic beaded spiral rope stitch using 10/o seed beads. In Nigeria however, this stitch is usually made using size 2 (11/o) seed beads.

Materials
1. Seed beads in two different colours (A and B). The A bead is our core bead while the B bead is our outer bead.
2. 0.3mm or 0.25mm monofilament (0.25mm is preferable because you will be passing the thread through the core beads severally.)
3. A beading needle.

Procedure
1.  Cut the maximum length of thread that you can comfortably work with. Thread one end unto a needle and add a stop bead at the other end of the thread, leaving about 8inches tail (for attaching the clasp).

2.   Pick 4 A beads and 4 B beads and slide them down.

3. Pass your Needle into the 4 A beads from the bottom (where your stop bead is) and go upwards. Pull to form a loop.

4. Pick 1 A bead and slide down the thread.

5. Pick 4 B beads and pass your Needle into the last 4 A beads i.e. the 3 from the previous step and the recently added 1 in step 4 above). Pull snug.

6.  Repeat steps 4 and 5 till you get to your desired length.

Happy beading:)
